To the qualified electors of Ann Arbor Charter Township, notice is hereby given that a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 7 am to 8 pm for the purpose of nominating candidates from the two major political parties for the following offices: US Representative to Congress, State Representative, County Prosecuting Attorney, County Sheriff, County Clerk & Register of Deeds, County Treasurer, County Water Resources Commissioner, County Commissioner, Township Supervisor, Township Clerk, Township Treasurer, Township Trustees, and Precinct Delegates. There are also two proposals on the ballot: 1) Township Proposal to Renew Public Safety Millage, and 2) Washtenaw Community College Proposal for Millage Renewal and Restoration.
All electors who are registered with the township clerk in which they reside are eligible to vote in this election. To comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available on audio and in Braille. All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities. Each precinct also has an AutoMARK voter assistance terminal.
Polling Places: Precinct 1 is at Township Hall, 3792 Pontiac Trail, and Precinct 2 is at Fire Station 2, 4319 Goss Road.
Absentee ballots are available for all elections; registered voters may contact the township clerk’s office to request an application for an absent voter ballot, by phone 663-3418, email firstname.lastname@example.org, writing or in person. You may vote by absent ballot if you: 1) are unable to attend the polls without assistance; 2) are 60 years of age or older; 3) expect to be absent from the community the entire time the polls are open on election day; 4) are in jail, awaiting arraignment or trial; 5) have been assigned to work as a precinct inspector in a precinct other than where you are registered; or 6) are unable to attend the polls because of religious beliefs.
