Community Event: Help Remove Invasive Garlic Mustard
May 31 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us for a hands-on volunteer event on May 31 from 10:00 am to noon as we work together to remove garlic mustard, an aggressive invasive plant, from the landscape of the Ann Arbor Township Farm.
Garlic mustard may look harmless and kind of pretty with its little white flowers, but it spreads rapidly and crowds out native wildflowers and plants, disrupting our local ecosystem. Its roots even release chemicals into the soil that make it harder for other plants to grow. By helping remove it, you’ll be supporting healthier soil, cleaner water, and more resilient native habitats in the Township. You can read more about garlic mustard from Michigan State University Extension’s online article “Garlic Mustard: Michigan’s Worst Woodland Weed” here: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/garlic_mustard_may_be_michigans_worst_woodland_weed
This is a great opportunity to come together as a community, enjoy time outdoors, and make a positive impact on our environment. Interested in lending a hand? Please complete our RSVP form so we can plan ahead. You can RSVP with this link: https://forms.gle/s84UvFK5ZewLzpij9
