The Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees met on January 22, 2024, and approved amendments to the Zoning Ordinance in Chapter 74, Section 74-592, now known as Ord 2-2024. The amendments update standards of determination for conditional use permits for mineral mining in Ann Arbor Charter Township such as requiring submission of hydrogeologic study. The proposed amendments add sections 74-592 (a) (7) to add the very serious consequence of impact on natural resources such as aquifers and 74-592 (a) (18) to only allow mine dewatering when it can be shown to have no adverse impact on other properties. The amendment takes effect on February 2, 2024.
